Here is a view of the other side of the house. The top floor windows have white
shutters as window treatments (for privacy I guess - I would remove them). The
lower floor windows have shoji screens over them. I like the vertical siding
on the top floor - it separates that volume from the rest of the structure and
makes it seem to float above the lower level - which was popular
in the 80s (a borrowing as I mentioned from the 1930s). The architect cleverly
combined different square shapes creating a wonderful composition reminiscent
of Piet
Mondrian.
