A
guide to interesting homes and commercial buildings. |
You can see the woodsy feel of the site due to the maturity of the trees that
were planted when these four buildings were built. There are three floors in
each building and as far as I know they are all 4 bedroom units. These corner
units are facing north so they receive little light. When I first saw these
buildings, and walked through the site on the paths, I felt I was on some college
campus on my way back to my dorm - they definitely have a feel of a carefully
planned environment. One thing you cannot see, is these units are just blocks
from public housing projects, and when I was putting my tripod in the truck
of my car some crazed drug addict came toward me yelling at some unseen adversary
and proceeded to kick the street sign post next to my car. I definitely would
not want to live in this neighborhood. I don't know if these were built before
or after the city tore down hundreds of Victorian homes and build acres of low
income housing, but is is unfortunate these very affordable units (about half
a million which is dirt cheap for SF) are in such a sketchy neighborhood. You
can see that these units each have a fireplace (note the chimneys which are
on four sides) as well as small balconys. This is as close as you can get to
living the suburban dream in the city in a condo.
