Residences

This house is up in Diamond Heights. I like how the unglazed surfaces of the house are given textural energy simply by the arrangement of the narrow strips of wood added to the exterior. The overhang to the front door is a very powerful presence that floats over the entrance and gives this house an authoritative stance. The chimney repeats this floating motif with the darker gray top. The small windows are an interesting touch since they accentuate the fortress-like feel of the building. The house incorporates a hexagon motif seen on the front door and in trellis-like extensions below windows on both sides of the house.
