San Francisco Modern Architecture
A guide to interesting homes and commercial buildings.
Residences

This style is based around an "L" shaped floor plan. On the far right side of this picture (which you cannot see) is a staircase leading to a door. Once you open the door you enter an open deck and to your left two sides of the house wrap around the two edges of the deck. A sliding glass door opens to the kitchen on one side and on the other side, a traditional door opens to a small hall that leads to the dining/living area. There is a half bath next to the kitchen. Upstairs are four bedrooms and two full baths. Two bedrooms face the street and each has a sliding glass door leading to the balcony you see on the second floor. The other two bedrooms face out over the deck. Aside from the deck, these homes have little useable backyard due to the hill that slopes up behind them. These houses get tons of light! The view these houses get is a slice of Glen Canyon and maybe the tops of the San Bruno range from the top floor, though from the bottom all they see are the houses across the street.
