A guide to interesting homes and commercial buildings.
Residences

This building faces the Eichler high-rise. Though it faces north, it gets ample light. The unit on the top floor to the far left was for sale not long ago and I had the opportunity to take a look. The windows you see are for the living room and kitchen. The top units have 10' ceilings compared to 8' ceilings for the first and second stories. I was unimpressed with the layout and space compared to the Eichler homes. The rooms were smaller and despite all the windows, you felt more removed from the natural surroundings than in the homes with sliding doors to backyards and courtyards. Also, for a top floor unit I was surprised no skylights were added - common practice in the homes.
